Bachelor of Science in Psychology

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology is a 182-credit-hour program consisting of 66 credit hours of general education, 88 credit hours focused on the psychology core, and 28 elective credit hours. This program is only offered online.

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology is designed to provide students real-world applications of psychological concepts and theories. The program is designed to foster analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills. This program allows students to choose courses from a range of topics in psychology or choose a concentration in either organizational behavior or consumer behavior.

 

This program does not lead to additional licensure or certification.  As such, CTU has made no determination regarding prerequisites for licensure or certification in any state or jurisdiction.

Mission Statement

The Psychology program’s mission is to develop versatile professionals through exposure to leadership, management and organizational concepts and strategies within the field of psychology. The program is designed to help students prepare for careers in applied psychology through management, administration, and/or sales. The Psychology program blends psychological principles with leadership and business principles to provide skills and techniques to address challenges that organizations are facing in the 21st century.

Outcomes

BSPSYCH Program Level Outcomes:

  1. Describe the major concepts theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology.
  2. Demonstrate the value of diversity, equity and inclusion in the theory and practice of psychology.
  3. Employ ethical standards, values and considerations in the theory and practice of psychology.
  4. Use analytical thinking to integrate the concept of the self, social dynamics, and organizational workplace systems.
  5. Communicate effectively as a professional in the field of psychology by developing and articulating ideas in accordance with the responsible use of data and source material. 
  6. Establish a personal leadership style, informed by psychological principles, that focuses on effective management and improvement strategies.
