Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice - Homeland Security and Emergency Management Concentration

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management is a 182-credit-hour program that is offered online and at the Colorado Springs campus. The program consists of 66 credit hours of general education requirements; 28 credit hours devoted to the criminal justice core; and 88 credit hours for the homeland security and emergency management concentration.
The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (BSCJ) with a concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management degree program was developed in partnership with the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Naval Postgraduate School. Its “All-Hazards” approach to Homeland Security training and education is designed to help students acquire an in-depth understanding of emergency management, technology, communications, intelligence, critical infrastructure, and the threat of terrorism for a wide range of government and private organizations. Students will also have the opportunity to develop essential skills in ethics, critical thinking, and strategic planning.
Mission Statement
The mission of the College of Security Studies is to offer degrees in criminal justice, homeland security, and cybersecurity to create the professionals that will address issues these fields are facing today and likely to confront tomorrow. The College anticipates industry and enterprise trends that have significant societal impact in order to provide diverse programs that cultivate professional competencies, critical-thinking, ethical decision-making, and cultural sensitivity to promote social justice and global security.
