Bachelor of Science in Project Management

Effective July 2, 2019, this program is no longer available for future enrollments at the Colorado Springs and Aurora Campuses.

The Bachelor of Science in Project Management (BSPM) is a 180-credit-hour program that is offered online and at both Colorado campuses. It consists of 66 general education credit hours, 82 credit hours devoted to core business and management courses, and 32 credit hours in the project management concentration.

This globally accredited program for students interested in the project management field is aligned with project management standards and skills. Its focus is on student practice and understanding of project management industry standards in various work settings.

 

This program does not lead to additional licensure or certification.  As such, CTU has made no determination regarding prerequisites for licensure or certification in any state or jurisdiction.

Mission Statement

The mission of the College of Business and Management is to offer professional market-driven business degrees that build business competencies transferable to all industries. The College of Business and Management accomplishes this mission by offering curriculum that aligns to industry standards, remains relevant, and builds practical skills applicable to the competitive global business environment.

 

Program Accreditation and Alignments

The curriculum covers the various knowledge areas, including the PMI Talent Triangle™, specified by the Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) and A Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) – Sixth Edition, the industry standard for project management. CTU’s BSPM is accredited by PMI-GAC and is an approved PMI® Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) program.

The Bachelor of Science in Project Management delivered at the applicable ground campuses and Colorado Technical University’s Virtual Campus is accredited by the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC).

 

Outcomes

BSPM Program Learning Outcomes:

  • Define and describe a project, program, project management, types of project organizational structures, project life cycle phases, and the PMBOK® Guide knowledge areas and process groups. 
  • Evaluate the impact that a global marketplace and economy has on project management practices, human resources, and strategic decision making.
  • Demonstrate how project managers align organizational strategy with leadership and stakeholder needs to satisfy project requirements and outcomes.
  • Analyze project scope and identify project key tasks and stakeholders.
  • Apply appropriate PMBOK® Guide knowledge areas and process groups to project situations and work environments.
  • Explain the management and integration of organizational projects, programs and portfolios. 
  • Identify skills, tools, principles, and techniques of continuous process improvement.
