Programming Basics Policy

Programming Basics (PB) Policy

This policy is applicable to students who started a program at Coding Dojo after January 1st, 2025.  If you started a Coding Dojo program prior to 1/1/25, please visit: https://coloradotech.smartcatalogiq.com/en/2024/catalog/general-information-on-coding-dojo-certificate-programs/

Prior to their first six-week course at Coding Dojo, all students are scheduled for the two-week Programming Basics (PB) course. Programming Basics (PB) is a pre-requisite course to all other courses of study in a student’s program. Students are required to successfully complete Programming Basics (PB) with a passing grade (P*) in order to continue with their program.

Participation Requirements/Cancels

During the first 4 calendar days of the Programming Basics (PB) session:

  • All students must participate at least once in a class related activity (see Coding Dojo’s Attendance Policy).
  • If a student does not participate in a class related activity during the first 4 calendar days of the Programming Basics (PB) session, the student will be canceled from Coding Dojo.

Failure to Successfully Complete Programming Basics (PB)

Students who participate in their Programming Basics (PB) course, but who fail to earn a passing grade (P*) for the course, will be placed on an Administrative Standard Period of Non-Enrollment (SPN). Students placed on an Administrative Standard Period of Non-Enrollment (SPN) must return to Coding Dojo during the next available Programming Basics (PB) session. Students who fail to return to Coding Dojo upon the next available Programming Basics (PB) term will be Administratively Withdrawn from Coding Dojo.

Students receiving a W*/NP* grade in the Programming Basics (PB) course are permitted one (1) course retake for a total of 2 attempts at the course.

Students taking Programming Basics (PB) are not able to request a Standard Period of Non-Enrollment (SPN) or extensions to an Administrative Standard Period of Non-Enrollment (SPN) or a Leave of Absence (LOA).
