MILT130 Introduction to Military and Naval Science

This course will survey American military and naval science, providing a comprehensive overview of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and the military and naval services.  Emphasis will be given to the organization and missions of the individual services of the DOD, to include the US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy, and US Air Force. Additionally, the organization and missions of the US Coast Guard as an armed service assigned to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be addressed. Topics to be covered include:  Organization of the DOD, Combatant Commands, Service organizations and missions, basic military and naval terminology.
