HIST114 Western Civilization II: From the Reformation to the Cold War

This course will survey Western Civilization from the Protestant Reformation of the 16th and 17th centuries to the Cold War of the mid-late 20th century.  Emphasis will be given to social, cultural, and institutional developments. Topics will include the Reformation and the Age of Religious Wars, the Age of Reason and the Enlightenment, the American and French Revolutions, Industrial Revolution, the Age of Imperialism, World War I and Its Aftermath (the Russian Revolution, and the Rise of Fascism), World War II and Its Aftermath (the Cold War, and Third World Decolonization and Independence).
