NRSG261 Nursing Practicum

This course provides a summative capstone experience for students in which they work with faculty and/or registered nurse preceptors in the acute care setting. The purpose of the experience is to synthesize and apply knowledge, skills and behaviors in nursing. Students expand their clinical practice hours and experiences with extended schedules to provide direct care as well as to manage and supervise care given by others. Core competencies required for passing this course include demonstration of professional roles and behaviors, effective communication, teamwork and collaboration, clinical decision-making, caring interventions, teaching and evaluation as well as managing care for multiple clients. Accountability for safe, quality performance is expected as students must achieve satisfactory performance rating to pass this course.
