HLS645 Vulnerability Analysis and Protection

This course allows students to examine Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Project Management methodologies to address vulnerabilities. The course also looks at the issue of public-private partnerships and the larger role of the private sector in homeland security. The course begins with an overview of risk, its definition and application to critical infrastructures as it relates to the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP). Students will examine models that study vulnerability analysis, risk assessment, and financial risk reduction. Students will have the opportunity to create optimal strategies and draft policies for the prevention of future terrorist attacks and the mitigation of natural disasters.
