ANTH110 Anthropology of Warfare & Conflict

This course explores the nature of warfare and conflict within the framework of anthropological perspectives and culture. It introduces the student to the underlying anthropological theory of violence. Warfare and conflict is also examined within various components of culture to include customs, religion, gender roles, sexuality, politics, economics, law, and conflict resolution. The conduct of warfare is also examined within the context of cultural variation and its linkage to conflict resolution and prevention.  The impact of death in warfare is examined and the various scales of war including civil war, world war, regional wars.
