MGMT616 Managerial Communications

This course is designed to increase understanding of strategic managerial communications, as well as to increase knowledge of the theory, research, and practice of communication in organizations. This course explores contemporary organizations and the pervasiveness of communication in all aspects of organizational life. Designed to provide hospitality professionals with an understanding of the principles and practices of persuasion, advocacy, and social marketing; learners will explore the theories of managerial communications which guide the preparation of ethical messages intended to gain compliance, increase advocacy, and change attitudes and behavior. Students will research and learn key concepts and conceptual frameworks in reaching target audiences and influencing others in a socially responsible way relevant to both immediate and long term organizational strategies.
