EM209 Digital Media and Intellectual Property

In this course students will explore intellectual property and the impact it has on the internet, interactive media, and on individuals. Starting with an understanding of the historical context of how intellectual property developed, the class then moves into the current state of intellectual property. Students will distinguish between copyright, trademark, trade secrets and other types of property. The importance of protecting one’s own work will be emphasized and students will learn about copyright basics.
