DMD480 Senior Design Project

This course will combine design and technical skills to create a custom senior level project. This course will enhance software skills, processes, and procedures used by the industry. Students will apply layout techniques for web/print media, or new media/new technologies. Web/Print production, chromatics, digital image formats, and software integration are reinforced. A professional web/graphic design studio environment is emulated; topics explored are: understanding project specifications, critical thinking, terminology related to web/print and layout, project management, and intellectual property. Creating and completing projects in a timely fashion is an integral component of this course. Technique, enhancing the software, managing workflow, and mechanical layout requirements are emphasized. Under faculty art direction, students will complete an independent design project that demonstrates their theoretical and technical proficiency in relation to the total project design process. In the beginning of the course the project will be discussed and customized, dependent upon each student's portfolio needs. Each student will create an individual project including: research, project specifications, project budget and/or resource planning, and technical requirements.
