CS686 Fundamentals of Big Data Analytics

This course introduces the subject of big data and associated analyses. This includes how the exponential growth and availability of digital content provides organizations the opportunity to exploit it for commercial or other organizational gain. The nature of unstructured data is explored and compared to relational database management systems and other traditional technologies. Architectures used in the associated infrastructure are explored. Tools commonly used for the analysis of big data are surveyed and used.
