HCM419 Health Policy and Politics
This course focuses on the U.S. health care system and the policies that influence the provision of healthcare services and public health outcomes. Students will examine the historical and political context of health policy and the policy making process at state and federal levels. The key stakeholders in the policymaking process will be identified, and students will discuss how they can be brought together to build coalitions and partnerships to shape and influence policy making decisions. Students will apply the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) policy process to recommend ways to develop or change policy to address public health problems.
