Master of Science in Cybersecurity Policy
The Master of Science in Cybersecurity Policy program is designed to prepare students for careers as managers in private-sector and public-sector roles requiring advanced knowledge in network and operating systems security, cybersecurity law and policy, and management and leadership principles. The program is designed for students focused on careers that oversee others that focus on the technical aspects of cybersecurity and consequently the objective is to develop a degree of literacy (as opposed to expertise) in technical issues combined with advanced knowledge of strategic threats, law, and management methodologies.
MSCP Program prepares the student to:
- Possess the knowledge in cybersecurity policy issues to be able to fill a leadership or other non-technical cybersecurity-related role in government or business
- Possess the skills to cope with policy-level decision-making with respect to cybersecurity issues in the public or private sectors
- Be able to understand threats, vulnerabilities, and policy options in a non-technical leadership role in cybersecurity policy
MSCP Program Competencies:
- Analyze and develop strategies for improving organizational processes and operations
- Develop effective enterprise level security policies, standards and procedures
- Define technical requirements for the implementation of an effective security infrastructure
- Synthesize core components of law and policy that are implicated in inter-disciplinary approaches to cybersecurity policy
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of network security issues, network, hardware, software, and communication vulnerabilities
- Recognize how the organization of the enterprise is integrated with the structure of security architecture
- Identify the security concerns in each phase of the system lifecycle
- Compare competing cybersecurity governance structures
- Evaluate challenges to establishment of comprehensive cybersecurity policy within competing government agencies and the private sector

National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security
The Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency have recognized Colorado Technical University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance and Cyber Defense (CAE IA/CD). The CTU cyber security curriculum was certified thereby to map to the DHS/NSA cybersecurity knowledge units. This recognition and certification is valid through 2021.
This CAE IA/CD designation is applicable to this degree program.
