PSYC125 Historical Perspectives on Modern Psychology
Psychologists try to describe, predict and explain human behavior as well as work to improve the lives of the people they touch. This course provides a comparative overview of the major fields within psychology, the theories and approaches to understanding human behavior. It will cover the historical roots of the discipline, as well as the major current perspectives and lead theorists in modern psychology, from Sigmund Freud to Abraham Maslow, from BF Skinner and Jung to Carl Rogers and Albert Ellis. Students explore career alternatives regarding positions psychology majors can aspire to as they look at their own careers as professionals on the human side of the workplace.
