PSYC201 Human Development

Human development never ends. This course examines the spectrum of developmental psychology and its applications for the field of health care. Students explore the major theories of life span and stage development and the contributions of major theorists such as Piaget, Erikson and Kohlberg. Emphasis will be on applying insights about the biological, emotional, intellectual and social development to health care for people of all ages. Students learn to enhance capacity to recognize the milestones of health and well-being and apply these milestones to their work with patients of all ages. Students in this course also develop a picture of the demographic landscape of societal health care challenges facing healers in the 21st century, as the population grows and ages.
